Dog friendly places - MNM VÉSZTŐ–MÁGOR HISTORIC SITE
The Mágori hill is rising in Bekes County, 5 kilometers from Vésztő to the west surrounded by the river bend Holt-Sebes Körös, where the ruins of a medieval monastery, traces of prehistoric dwellings and artefacts of centuries are on display for the visitors.

On the hill Mágori two decades of archaeological research revealed the monastery ruins, graves of the cemetery of the clan Csolt from the 13-14th century, and the deeper layers of the earth emerged from the prehistoric (Neolithic, Copper Age, Bronze Age) traces of villages and everyday objects used by the residents.
The ideal geographical location of the place has attracted the prehistoric peoples as well. From the residential ruins of those who successively settled here with some interruptions through thousands of years from the ruins of residential houses and household waste a considerable thickness of 700 cm, 9 construction period which falls into the cultural layer is formed, in this sense Mágori hills is artificially formed. In 1988, it opened the prehistoric site showing a 5x25 -meter surface opening section, designed so that visitors can see the original place of the village and cemetery details of the Neolithic period to the Middle Bronze age.
The excavated medieval monastery ensemble on Mágori hill buildings are standing with prestigious ornaments, which can be found in other parts of the country only in royal construction sites or in range. The historic preservation and partial restoration of the Csolt monastery walls was completed in 1982, since then can be visited. In the cellar from the 19th century permanent exhibition presents the history of the hill from the Neolithic age to the Turkish occupation.
The Mágori hill is under archaeological and nature protection. The Holt-Kőrös National Park Nature Trail provides place for pleasant walk with lots of interesting things, seeing the landscape is an unforgettable experience.
April 1, 2015 the MNM Vésztő - Mágor Historic Site became a dog -friendly place as well. We welcome the visitors with dogs. Fresh water is provided. The use of leash and bags are mandatory.
